What does a Primary Turf Maintenance program look like?

A primary turf maintenance program will maintain your grass at a healthy height of 3 to 4 inches.

Community Green can create a mowing schedule to ensure your turf is healthy, has a strong curb appeal and stays within your budget. An irrigated property may be mowed on a weekly basis until weather conditions warrant differently. Starting in mid-October, mowing services will be contingent upon grass growth which is affected by the variables of fall weather.

Included in turf maintenance:

  1. Trash, sticks, and debris are collected before maintenance commences.
  2. Sidewalks, curb lines, fences, poles, tree lines and landscape beds will be edged by a string trimmer/stick edger. Trimming adjacent to parked vehicles may not be completed if there is potential for vehicle damage.
  3. Property will be blown clean once turf maintenance and edging is complete to assure no clippings are left standing on turf.

Secondary Turf Maintenance Services

Areas requiring less frequent turf maintenance are included in this maintenance service.

When a property manager believes that a scheduled maintenance should be cancelled due to lack of grass growth, service may be cancelled or delayed by contacting our office and/or your site's operations manager a full 24 hours prior to the scheduled maintenance. In the event that wet conditions exist due to a recent rainfall, Community Green Landscape Group reserves the right to determine if the property can be mowed without permanent damage to the lawn.

Turf Care Program

Community Green Landscape Group’s turf care program provides the appropriate amount of essential nutrients required by turfgrass to maintain color, vigor and health. We can customize your site’s program with anywhere from one (1) to five (5) applications of fertilizer and weed control products.

Round 1 Application

  • This application includes a pre-emergence weed control plus fertilizer and is designed to protect the lawn from crabgrass. Depending on seasonal conditions, this application may include a broadleaf weed control application. Applied in early March to mid-April.

Round 2 Application

  • This application includes a granular, quick release fertilizer enriched with iron and potassium to help spread the tillers within the lawn and nitrogen to give the turf is darker green color. Broadleaf weed control is included as weeds become apparent. Applied in April to mid-May.

Round 3 Application

  • This application includes a granular fertilizer enriched with iron and potassium to help spread the tillers within the lawn and create dark green color. Broadleaf weed control is included as weeds become apparent. Applied in late May to late June.

Round 4 Application

  • In early fall, we apply a high analysis slow-release fertilizer to help the lawn recover from the summer stresses. Broadleaf weed control is applied as required. Applied in August or September.

Round 5 Application

  • This application strengthens the grass root system, keeps the grass green longer into the fall and helps the lawn green up and start stronger growth in the spring. Applied in late October to late November.

Turf Core Aeration

  • Aeration is the process of mechanically removing soil plugs and small portions of thatch from turf areas. Lawn aeration relieves soil compaction and improves the ability of roots to grow deeper and expand into the soil. The mechanical removal of soil plugs is generally recognized as the best way to improve air exchange and increase water and fertilizer intake by the plants.
